The Provincial Services Academy (PSA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was established under the Provincial Services Academy (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) Act, 2013 as a dedicated institution for imparting pre-service and in-service training to officers and personnel entrusted with executive functions in the Province. The Academy is mandated to contribute to excellence in public administration through professional training, research, knowledge development and capacity building in areas including public policy, governance, planning, development, law, finance, economics, management and social service delivery. It is also envisaged as a research and policy resource for the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Functions

In accordance with the Act, the Provincial Services Academy performs the following key functions:

Pre-Service and In-Service Training

Impart pre-service and in-service training to officers and personnel entrusted with executive functions.

Training and Research

Provide training and undertake research in public policy, public administration, governance, planning, development, law, finance, economics, management, regional studies, social service delivery and other disciplines having an impact on governance.

Support to Educational and Training Institutions

Support existing institutions in the Province in the promotion of education, training and research.

Design and Commission Courses

Prescribe and commission courses of study and professional training.

Training Methodologies and Strategies

Determine appropriate teaching methods, training strategies and supporting activities to enhance the effectiveness and impact of educational and training programmes.

Professional Learning Activities

Design and organize training courses, conferences, lectures, workshops, seminars and symposia relating to its areas of mandate.

Research, Consultancy and Advisory Services

Undertake research and provide consultancy and advisory services in relevant areas.

Professional Standards and Certification

Prescribe standards and award certificates and other distinctions to participants who successfully complete the Academy's education and training programmes.

Policy Research for Government

Serve as a research institute for the Government on matters of public policy.
